6 Things To Do In Ucluelet, BC on Your Summer Holidays
1. Visit Ucluelet's "The Wreckage" and get your photo in front of "Evelyn May" an old boat right on the main street on the right hand side as you drive through Ucluelet on Peninsula road.
2. Hike a section of the Wild Pacific Trail
3. Drive the woop-de-doos (the bumps on the higway you'll find while driving on the last few kilometers of highway on your way into Ucluelet. The woop-de-doos are best on your way out of Ucluelet. Be sure to drive over these a few times to get the hang of maximizing the roller coaster feel. If you feel your brain raising in your skull or your stomach raising in your throat while you descend one of the many hills that make up this fun section of the highway then you know you're doing it right. Be safe and follow posted speed limits. There are also some fun woop-de-doos en route to Tofino. Do them all a few times.
4. Get your morning coffee at a good Uclelet coffee shop like Cynamocha and talk to the locals sitting inside watching sportsbreak on the big screen tv or to the crusty fishermen who frequent the benches outside while they drink their coffee. The coffee is good. They open at 6am.
5. Drive through all of the little back streets of the local residential areas of town. The town is so small that this doesn't take very long, but you'll enjoy seeing some of the high-end resort mansions, cookie-cutter rental "waterfront" yet not on the water cabins, and the small falling-apart shacks that together make up the changing face of Ucluelet. Find the aquarium if you can.
6. Take a whale watching or kayaking trip from one of the many local providers.
