Ucluelet Coffee Shop Reviews: Cynamocha
UCLUELET COFFEE SHOP
Looking for a good coffee shop, a great coffee and a taste of local culture in Ucluelet? Make a point of visiting Cynamocha at 1536 Penninsula street, Ucluelet BC.
FINDING HOPE IN UCLUELET
When I ventured out in search of my morning coffe my first morning in Ucluelet I feared I wouldn't find anything more than a scary cup of joe from a gas station.
As I passed the ten stores along the highway that make up most of Ucluelet's roadside "downtown" and saw closed signs in all of their windows I quickly lost hope that I'd be able to find a good latte anywhere in Ucluelet.
Then I saw it. My morning salvation. A big neon OPEN see the big neon Open sign at the xxx coffee shop.
UCLUELET COFFEE AND CULTURE
While sipping your coffee and munching. on pancakes and eggs or sugary baked delight, you'll be refreshed to see and feel the good vibes from a lot of people smiling at each other and saying hi as they arrive for their morning fix.
These cigarette smoking (outside) long sleeve checkered shirt and Co-Op logo ballcap wearing, repeated belly laughing friendly folk are the sea-air-soaked locals, of course. We goretex and lululemon-yoga toting tourists typically don't vacation here long enough to get out of "city mode" where we're trained to not look at anyone and not speak to anyone and certainly not reveal personal life details to strangers.
Finding the Ucluelet Coffee Shop
Drive into Ucluelet. Pass through town and watch on the right hand side for a house with a fairly steep uphill driveway. The coffee shop is in the house. It's right before the Ucluelet fire hall. There's limited parking but you can park on the side of the highway at the bottom of the hill and walk up if the parking lot is full.
There are local postcards, pottery, framed local nature photos, and wood carvings for sale for those looking to pass off another travellers cheque or let Visa know you're alive and well and happily consuming Ukee culture.
Food Specials on the Chalk Board
Spicy Thai Wrap
Chicken Chipotle
Chicken Caeser
What to Look For
Go early in the morning on weekdays or weekends and sit outside to get some local flavor. You'll overhear conversations from locals about fishing and trucking and crazy tourists and more.
